oh wait, this is a weight loss challenge??...

....I thought it was a weight gain challenge.  Whoops. I guess I didn't get that memo.  Oh well, at least I'm not the only one.  This week wasn't good for me or Jen.  But it was excellent for Darin!  The pounds are flying off of him now, he lost another 2.4lbs!  I'm not sure what my problem is, but I just can't seem to lose weight two weeks in a row.  I lose 1 lb then gain .5lbs.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong except I guess not eating well enough? or too much?  Not exercising enough?  I don't know, I thought I've been pretty good but I guess not.  It also doesn't help that I sit on my butt all day at work, and the only time I really get any good exercise in is after work.  It was so much easier to lose weight in college when i was not only exercising, I was walking at least 30-40 minutes a day around campus.

Darin and I have been enjoying the nice weather and have been going to the park after work and on the weekends.  Usually for at least 45 minutes at a time, and I even ran a mile straight without stopping!  Though the following day I could barely run a half mile.  What can I say, I'm not a runner!

Once the weather finally calms down and gets nice for good, I'm sure my dad and I will start up our weekly walking/hiking expeditions and hopefully that added mileage every weekend will speed up my weight loss.

Once again, good job Darin!!  To Jen and myself-better luck next week!

Darin: 168.8 (8.8 lbs away from a second cat!)

Jen: 127.8
Kim: 141.8

winners.

Its nice when all the Biggest Loser participants actually lose weight!  We all seem to be back on track and each of us lost weight.  I, of course, still came in last.  Oh well, at least I lost weight.  Darin and I both seemed to bounce back from another bad weekend.  Darin went to visit Jen in Ewing and got Firkin' Tavern takeout, and then since the Phillies game was rained out, he drove to Delaware to visit Greg and ate more unhealthy food.

I went to NYC Saturday with my mom and we had a lot of fun!  We ate a lot, but that was balanced out with a fair amount of walking.  We went to the South Street Seaport and walked around, taking in the sites, but not the museum since it was closed for renovations, even though they never disclosed that on their website.  We got a yummy lunch at a restaurant at the pier.  My mom got the lobster bisque, I got to the New England clam chowder (delicious) and we split a crab cake sandwich.  After lunch we took the subway back up to Times Square area, walked around a bit, and then saw Green Day's American Idiot broadway musical.  It was a really great show, my mom and I were both so happy we decided to go see it.  I would recommend all you go up and see it, but unfortunately this is its last week on broadway.  But because it was the last week, we got to see Billie Joe Armstrong perform!  After the play, we took a quick subway ride to Grand Central Station, and after roaming around in the rain for several minutes, finally found Baked By Melissa.  We picked out 3 mini cupcakes each to try, and went back into Grand Central to enjoy them.  There were all delicious, but the peanut butter one and the chocolate cookie dough were my favorites!  We then hopped on another subway ride to Eataly, a large italian market that Mario Batali created.  Everything you could possibly imagine that is related to italian cuisine could be found there, and more.  I was in heaven.  I spent $26 on 3 jars of sauce.  Haha but it was great and I'm excited to go back again and hopefully eat at one of the restaurants.

And now, back to the weight loss portion of the blog.  I don't know what else to say, we all lost weight!  My aerobics classes are over though, so I will have to fill my Tuesday nights with more treadmill workouts I suppose.

The weights for this week's weighin:

Darin: 171.2
Jen: 127.2
Kim: 141.2

And  now, Neko explores the outdoors...

here we go again...

I'm back to gaining weight instead of losing weight in this competition.  Getting on the scale each week definitely isn't good for my self confidence, especially when you gain the weight back you thought you lost. Oh well, I'm getting used to it.  Though, this week it seems Jen had the same problem as me, as she gained weight as well. However, the big story for this week is...Darin lost another 3lbs!  yay for Darin!!  We were both really scared about this weeks weigh-in, because once again, we were bad on the weekend.  But it didn't seem to matter for Darin!

This weekend is going to be a challenge once again.  My mom and I are planning on going to NYC Saturday.  Right now they are calling for rain, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the forecast changes.  We may go see a broadway play, not sure what the exact plan is yet. While we are in NYC, Darin will be going to the Phillies game with Greg with tickets from Mr. Kit that Darin forgot we had (otherwise he would be going to NYC too).

Please keep your fingers crossed for good weather Saturday!

Update:
Darin 172.4
Jen    128.4
Kim  142.2

Apparently when I throw up a 3 spot kim doesn't want to post the weights.  Darin has lost 18.4 lbs, Jen has lost 10.2lbs, and Kim has lost 4.40lbs to date.  Only 12lbs away from Neko getting a sibling, and I promise to bring you with Jen when we go.

week 9!

I can't believe we've been doing this challenge for over 2 months already!  It seems like only a month has gone by since we started.  For a recap, Darin has lost a total of 15.4lbs officially putting him in the lead for percentage of weight loss, Jen has lost 10.8lbs and I've lost 4.8lbs.  Congrats to Darin and Jen!    I'm pretty pathetic still with my barely 5lb weightloss, but I'm still happy I've at least lost something.  Also I'm happy that some of my pants that were starting to get a bit tight are fitting nicely again.  As long as I continue to lose weight, even if it takes me another two months to lose 5lbs, I think I will be happy with myself :)

As you all saw from the last post, my dad and darin were able to revive the treadmill, and it seems to be working better than ever!  I think my dad missed his calling in life, he should be fixing treadmills, not refrigerators!

Once again it looks like the weekend is going to be tough for darin and i.  We will be heading to Jersey friday night, and a trip to Ewing would not be complete without a stop at the Firkin' Tavern for some tasty nachos.  It'll be worth it though.

Darin: 175.4
Jen: 127.8
Kim: 141.8 (tho yesterday i was 141.4..can we go off tuesdays weight please??)

It's Back!

The treadmill has been fixed and is alive for at least one more day.  The competition has been re-ignited.  Though we may have been setback a bit by Kim's tasty pulled pork
